Mandatory, self-selected bookings did not guarantee that people who wanted to work together could sit next to each other. Neighborhoods were fixed based on peak attendance, however this restricted when teams could come in and seemed to require leasing 30% more space.
Managers did not want to restrict employees to specific in-office days, and they did want employees to be able to choose who they wanted to work with and when.

The Results
The company closed multiple floors of excess space on days when there was lower demand. They were able to save on operational and environmental costs, while reducing the ‘sea of empty desks’ to provide a livelier employee experience.
Density ranges from 35% on Fridays up to 92% on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
On Monday’s and Friday’s AIDRA empties building A and 2 floors from building B, dynamically saving operation spend on 35,000 SF.
The company did not have to lease any new/extra space, unlike their original forecast
The employees can work with the people they need to, when they want to, without having to book on their own.
