Upflex announces a new collaboration with Landmark, one of the UK’s largest providers of flexible workplaces.

The agreement makes Landmark the first-ever space provider to apply Upflex’s technology to making on-demand bookings and payment easy, seamless and instant for its members and new customers.

As flexible work catches on, a growing slice of the workforce is seeking out better, easier, more efficient ways to tailor their workspaces to their everyday needs and locations.

Born in London more than 20 years ago, Landmark is now one of the UK’s largest high-end flexible workspace providers, operating serviced offices, coworking space and meeting rooms. Over 200 companies — and over 14,000 customers — use Landmark’s nearly 50 of locations across the UK, in nine major cities including Bristol, Manchester and Birmingham, and prime locations in London.

Because of a growing need for flexible work tools — and a rapidly growing customer base — Landmark tapped Upflex for help with automating its booking capabilities.

A new Landmark app, powered by Upflex, will now enable easy, seamless, and instant booking and payment for workspace and meeting rooms. This platform is a new component of Landmark’s existing Freedom Pass, which allows members and new customers, in the service of flexibility, to access to Landmark’s nationwide network without the need to commit to long-term contracts or one specific building.

“Harnessing Upflex’s innovative technology marks a step-change in how we can service our growing user base in a fast-evolving digital world,” Landmark CEO Ed Cowell said. “The flex work market is changing rapidly as hybrid work patterns become the new norm. Our goal is to become truly technology enabled to stay ahead of the curve and to enhance the experience of our members, who want to be more fluid in how they access our diverse range of workspaces. With Upflex, we can fully optimize our mix of dedicated and on-demand offering to meet the needs of what’s now a much more distributed workforce, providing best in-class space as well as access to a market-leading tech platform. This will enable Landmark to fulfill its mission of becoming the number one provider of outstanding client experience in our industry.”

Upflex designed its proprietary next-generation product in response to increasing demand from workspace operators for an effective plug-and-play software solution to manage shorter term and on-demand customers.  The Upflex platform will also provide in-depth insights into member preferences and workspace needs through advanced data analytics, allowing Landmark to respond fast and create new experiences and services based on up-to-the-minute trends.

We are excited to work with such a prestigious name as Landmark,” said Upflex CEO Christophe Garnier. “As a technology company, it was the natural next step for Upflex to expand its offering beyond managing and monetizing the largest flex inventory in the world, and to enable flex operators to optimize their operations and technology capabilities. We see huge potential for small and large flex operators to align with the new norm. Automation is an increasingly vital component of engaging with customers and we launched this new offering for flex operators to arm them with the necessary agility to succeed in the current landscape.”

Announcement builds on strong momentum in the region

In recent months, Upflex has significantly strengthened its footprint in the fast-growing European hybrid work market with the acquisition of WorkClub and the launch of Upflex EMEA, its new European HQ in London. This was followed by a global strategic partnership with WeWork.

Looking ahead, by making its technology capabilities widely available, Upflex can help established industry names future-proof their offering, win customer share and tap into the tremendous growth opportunities offered by a data-driven approach.

The market will continue to see accelerated growth on significant demand – as over 40% of occupiers anticipate increasing their use of flexible workspace and 63% of employees have a preference for a hybrid working model going forward (JLL). In the UK, the volume of flexible office space is predicted to double by 2023, compared with 2019 (Statista).
